Gardener and garden maintenance in Dorking

Regular, reliable care from a local gardener, keeping your garden looking its best through every season.

A garden rarely gets away from you all at once. The lawn gets a little long, the hedge a little wide, the borders a little crowded, and by midsummer it feels like a job you can never catch up with. Regular maintenance stops that happening.

We agree what each visit covers and how often we come, then we keep to it. You don't need to be at home and you don't need to chase anyone. Every visit ends with the clippings cleared, the edges neat and the paths swept, so the garden is ready to enjoy.

Through the seasons

SpringFirst cuts of the year, edging, feeding the lawn, clearing and mulching borders, and pruning shrubs before they put on growth.
SummerRegular mowing, weeding, deadheading and hedge trimming. We check hedges for nesting birds first, as active nests are protected by law.
AutumnLeaf clearance, cutting back perennials, scarifying and aerating the lawn, and a last hedge trim to keep things tidy through winter.
WinterPruning roses and fruit trees, tidying beds and paths, and getting the garden ready for spring.

Garden maintenance suits busy households, people who would rather enjoy the garden than work in it, and anyone who finds the garden harder to keep up with than it used to be. We also look after gardens for landlords, during and between tenancies.

Questions

How much does a gardener cost?

Every garden is different, so we price after a short visit. You get a written quote for each visit or for the regular schedule before any work starts.

How often should my garden be maintained?

Most family gardens do well with a fortnightly visit from spring to autumn and monthly in winter. Lawns in the growing season may need weekly mowing.

Do I need to be at home?

No. As long as we can get into the garden, we can work while you are out.

Do you cut hedges?

Yes. Hedge trimming is part of regular maintenance, and we also do one-off hedge cutting and reductions.
